Grayson is the only person who saves darling ( Dane’s cat ) when Dane’s house catches on fire . He learns from Dane about the value of life . So he went into the fire to save the cat . He’s not trash . He doesn’t know why someone risk their own life to save others . When Dane teaches him , Grayson understands the value of life .
That will happen in the future chapter but for now he is still trash, a burning pile of trash. Ignorance doesn't really excuse his actions, he's an adult that is worse than trash.
