Now that would be awesome symbolism, and definitely not unlikely. I just think the goldfish holds the much more simple symbolism that was laid out for us at the start of the story when he killed his goldfish. It was freed from its rotting cage and can live if it fights for it

Yess!! and do yall remember how in 1st episode je-oh let his pet goldfishes die (unintentionally) but now we saw him freeing one so ig that symbolises his freedom
aren't goldfish an invasive species? "do you think it'll survive?" I dont think anything ELSE in that water will survive
