So I've read it again and got all the way to the point where her brother first appears. Do I need to keep going?

If you can't stand her character I'd say stop while you're ahead it only all comes together nearer to the end

Well, after re-reading it, I'm not as irritated by her as I was the first time. Maybe I just want to like this so bad because one of my favourite tropes(?) Or dynamics(?) is the whole "Person A has a reputation of being scary but wants person B to like them and Person B is terrified of them but can't just run away for one reason or another"

I think looking at it through a much more comedic lense helps. I know she has to be "dumb" to some extent for the plot to make any sense and for her to fall into his trap in the first place.

I get what your saying. This one you definitely can't take too seriously, but I personally liked reading it. It's not like a super amazing story or anything but the concept was interesting and I did have chuckle every here and there. After finishing it I can say that it probably could have been a story with a lot more depth to it (if you decide to read more you'll understand what I mean), but I guess since I wasn't really looking for a deep story when I found this one I wasn't bothered by the pacing or where it was going next. There was probably only one part of the story I can say I wish there was more and was dissatisfied with (I won't spoil unless you're chill with that). Other than that I wouldn't say it was a waste of a read, but it's also not like a top 10, if that makes sense?

Yeah that makes sense! Now that I think about it, I'm personally asexual, and she constantly talks about how hot he is so all that kind of stuff I don't care for and probably just goes over my head. I think part of my biggest gripe with the fl is how quickly she goes from scared to in love like it's nothing and a lot of that probably comes from physical attraction I can't relate to. And yes feel free to spoil me I don't mind!

If you're fine with spoilers than I'll tell you without giving too much away ^^ The main reason she is attracted to him despite being scared of him is because they already met before in her past life, it's kind of what influenced her preferences when she first asked him to find a husband for her (though that isn't explicitly stated, it's more of an inference on my part as to why she immediately was drawn to him even though he is the "bad guy"). Because of the relationship they had in their past lives there is an almost magnetic pull between the both of them.

Like I said before the story has an interesting concept imo, but it lacks a lot in terms of depth. There are a lot of places where the story could have had a little more all throughout, but the part that was the most lackluster was the main conflict resolution. When they go to fight the true antagonist (because obliviously it isn't the ML) it was verrrry anticlimactic. There wasn't any real sense of impending doom and destruction even though that's what it was made out to be. It was over as quick as it started even though leading up to it there were so many good plot elements. The secondary characters that honestly felt more like a comedic addition actually added value to the story only for it to not matter all that much in the end.

And really I think that's why although these almost unfinished plot points left me feeling like missed opportunities for an epic 3 season story, with full side stories for the other characters, angst, drama, action, etc, I liked it because of the sheer potential it had. I've tried writing my own stories and failing epically, so I can only imagine the creative energy and motivation to bring a novel into completion. Because I feel I can see the vision of where the story was going filling in the blanks with my own headcanons made the story more enjoyable for me I think.

Omg THANK YOU for this. I'm so glad I didn't read the rest now or I would have been so upset because the trope I hate the absolute most in these stories, even more so then the "they met when they were kids" trope is the "they were lovers in a past life/fated souls" for the exact reason you were saying, it gives this, in my opinion, excuse for them to be attracted to eachother and then the author doesn't have to actually put in any effort to build that attraction, and imo it so heavily undermines what it means to build an actual meaningful connection to someone, (not that I was expecting anything too deep from this comic in the first place but) I think it just feels too much like "fate is predetermined" which takes away the meaning and value of the choices made, if that makes any sense?


And what's really funny, is I absolutely agree with you on the fact that I really thought this story had so much potential cuz I LOVE the concept of it, and maybe that's why I didn't like it cuz they let me down so hard

I'm sure I would be in the same boat as you if I were looking for a more serious story at the time of finding it, but really this was just a story I stumbled on while waiting for others to update and because of my active imagination I was adding in story elements I thought were lacking.
