Funny how the rapist fans keep calling Ian a "pretty little bird" when their favorite is one of the biggest birds in the entire story.
Ian's choices and actions are actually complex, and his POV throughout the story perfectly contextualizes why he does what he does. He's not a perfect person, and the story never pretends he is, but that's exactly what makes him a well-written flawed character.
Meanwhile, their boy barely has any writing or characterization that reinforces his actions. Most of his role is being a catalyst for other characters and plot developments.
The media literacy crisis is real. A character that actually has realistic flawed human emotion and a work that display how complex relationship are between people which btw Doyak had said before she didn't want a clean story and that she love how character relationship intertwine together and she did just that with her story. Reducing everything to bird, like go do that to jinx.
And realistically let's be honest if Ian wanted Jo back, Jo would probably run back to him in a heartbeat.
Mind you he only knew Ian for a few month and half of the time he spent it by getting ditch by Ian lmfao but kept the photo for 2 years straight. He still petty and hurt as hell cus "that person" when he still remember how they first met clearly...ohh
