He heard that Lorena was pregnant again and instead of thinking about himself for the first time he does something selfless, because he is reminded of how she passed away and unable to risk her well-being. I'm not hoping to redeem him, but it'd be character growth and about damn time for serious self-reflection, if he's capable of that.
