The two leads went to school together, a boarding school if I remember correctly. At some point the ML transfers schools and the MC experiences bullying and I think homophobia which leads to the two of them breaking up. And then they lose contact I think. In the present, ML is engaged and MC attends his engagement party (I think). They accidentally run into each other at their old school which is up for demolition i think. MC also goes to ML's house at some point and the two of them hook up. The ending is kind of bittersweet and open ended, theMC puts on an exhibition and ML goes to see it and to go meet the MC but it's unclear whether they get back together or not
