I feel like that's just how he is as a character. We've never really much seen Mr. Yeon listen to anyone and does shit on his own like an asshole (even his secretary can't get through him).
The most he had probably listened to people was when Yeomin was sweetly requesting something from him.
i think it’s more he views himself as a protector and provider and he wants the ml to live a comfortable worry free life therefore he takes care of everything without informing the ml because he doesn’t want him to deal with the hardships. not saying he’s in the right for keeping ml in the dark, just that that is his perspective on things.
