To be honest, this is a morally gray character done right—he's manipulative and conniving, and he definitely deceived the uke and used the people around him to stack the odds in his favor. But despite having the chance, he never used the rings to force the uke into a relationship because he genuinely loved him. Instead, he simply outsmarted fate and moved faster than it, carefully setting everything into place. I really enjoyed how the story wrapped up; the plot was well done, and I'd highly recommend it if you're a fan of flawed, morally gray characters.
