Its both of them. ML didn't believe in the name verse soul mate thing and was trying to see if MC would love him without the knowledge of the name. MC did love ML but didn't want to be a placemat until the "real" name verse partner arrived. Its something like a miscommunication, but I dont feel like thats right. I think theyre both insanely neurodivergent idiots.
Yeah this Is right though i feel like ML is getting way more shit than he deserves. I actually think it's legit to try to see if a person would love you unconditionally. I do admit he was NOT fair in the way he "tested" MC but i can see the issue behind it, but the MC straight up accepting to date a strange like nothing is troubling me.
