I think he was traumatized by the dark 'basement' and not a cage. I also think the reason why he needed a cage is cuz its the last thing the MC did for him—sort of like a connection for him to MC— cuz he experience being abandoned by MC so... yeah.
I thought he traumatized by a cage and trying to avoid it but he feel safe inside it i still can't warp it around my head?
