Everyone gets a happy ending. The guy's soul was breaking because of Sid and in a last effort, Sid removed all memories from the point where he became his door til now. Then he contacted MC, who brought along the demon doc, who eventually started to repeat his soul with shareds from other souls. Over the treatment and living together they grew closer. He eventually regained his memories but stayed with the doc and they live in the human realm, traveling across the world or smth (we last saw them on a cruise). They're doing good.
