i feel some sympathy for the new artist. apparently they're a really big fan and studied for a while to make the art, according to an afternote in a missing chapter that continues the blood merfolk scene. objectively, i think their art is better. BUT bc of that, there's too much going on in the visuals that details and the readability become muddled. there's clearer differences between the characters (like the guys' eye shapes) but i wouldn't be able to distinguish them solely off of memory. the new art looks generic as every other manhwa w/ good art. everyone also gives off brighter, outgoing demeanors that feel off bc they lean towards looking cute in contrast to how they used to give off sly undertones that was alluring.
as they say, less is more. my disappointment is lowk the same as when i first saw the manhwa adaptation for bj villainess, but similarly maybe i'll get used to if more moments receive justice in this art
