That is supposed to be like in the novel. I feel it is more emotionally deeper here of his fears and worries, but also his motivation and selfishness of his desire to help someone even at the expense of himself. He still has those heavy thoughts
Bc the dialog is so stiff and it make it bland i think it languange barier and missmatch TL it so broing the fialog but not the story ..you knownwhat i meanthat it is TL barrier that make the converstion sound so stiff snd unnatural and disconnected
