i've seen the comments saying "why are you upset at the rape, this is a mafia story," but they fail to take into consideration WHY people feel so betrayed.
we are introduced to a beautiful pure relationship in volume 1, despite all the hurt they've undergone. we know that if gino were discovered as a half-blood, he would be treated atrociously. the ONE person who doesn't do that is dante. dante saves gino when he runs away, keeps his secret, makes gino realize he deserves to live the way he wants to. he says "i'll protect you with everything i am."
when you set expectations up for the audience that the main lead will follow through on his words and treat the love of his life gently -- just to see him betray that very man by raping him in front of his dad and subordinates, thus rendering meaningless everything he said or did in volume 1 -- how was that supposed to go over well? i'm beyond disappointed.
