The lady wasn’t Hayatos wife, it was the lady that didn’t give Touma the letter at the right time. She must have felt guilty and blame herself for Toumas death. The story never really mentioned anything about Hayatos death, but I assumed there’s a possibility he might’ve killed himself when he found out about Touma. That’s why her design is the way it is. She was caring death on her shoulders, those two skulls next to her head probably represent Touma and Hayato.

Hayato must have been so grief-stricken and had so much regret cause wdym on the day they were supposed to elope, Touma died from drowning? wdym he never got his letter and the amulet? WDYM HIS WIFE ALSO HAD FELT SO MUCH GUILT AND REGRET THAT SHE'S BEEN THERE IN THAT HOUSE FOR SO LONG
man the story-telling is just immaculate, but the pacing and these characters were written so, sooo well. socglad everyone had their own somewhat happy ending, or rather moved on. THIS IS ART I'M NOT EVEN LYING
