I get the analogy you're making, I think you're talking more about double standards in fiction and I can understand that frustration because people often end up judging all medias differently and harshly sometimes but I believe that games don't really get a free pass either, it's heavily criticized or supported in it's own way. Criticism exists for pretty much everything, whether it's considered good or bad

Imagine if people treated video games like they treat yaoi. "I enjoy GTA but I wish they wouldn't include the murder" like, let's not act like 90% of all video games aren't romanticized gun violence. Get's a pass because it's made for boy's? Idk.
