The author clearly lays out the predicaments of each individual as if they hope the reader understands that they’re just doing what they can to survive. The empress, blonde prince, ML, etc. They all have a “duty” to protect their loved ones. Even the FL’s mother who wants to di3, but is allegedly waiting for the FL to become an adult. Maybe even Cleo?
Which is why author also keeps highlighting the gap/diff w FL, who has no one, who has no duty. What is the point of all this turmoil? She said she wants to live again, perhaps to “pay” for her sins? At the end of her first life, she does not find fault with ML and Bibi, so perhaps she just wants to be able to live an autonomous life and not as the naive fool/puppet who wasn’t given a chance and was unlucky to be born in such predicament and forced to live out the way she did.
The narrative seems to be that the “true” villains are the ones who don’t have such a compassionate duty i.e to protect their position (king, Brian?, maybe also Cleo?). Looking forward to Cleo’s back story for more clarity regarding her “duty.”
