reread the first story and it felt like takeo only had a crush on ao, tho i think he was more or less aware of it since he never explicitly said it. what really stuck with him most was that moment when he had the realization that same-sex relationships are fine. i mean, he did say at first that he never liked guys, so when he felt envious of ao’s bf, nagata, he realized that he could like guys too
but come on, even here he has yet to realize how scary and anxiety-inducing it must be for waka to realize his straight friend, whom he had loved for years, suddenly says he might be fine with dating guys too. waka’s probably constantly wondering if he’s enough or if takeo’s feelings are just fleeting. the least takeo could do is give him some reassurance and not push him too much.
if this was longer, takeo’s character could’ve been fleshed out more. i would’ve loved to see how his feelings for waka continued to develop throughout college and how he gradually came to understand waka’s fears and insecurities better
