To sum it up he basically doesn’t think it’s wrong. Ever since he was a child he always thought like that. His logic is the kid was being punished so he isn’t going to let him out but instead keep him company. Spoilers about Grayson’s past!!

For example Chase miller had said he didn’t want to go to school so Grayson pushed him in front of a bus or car to “help”. Another example was (I think sm correct me if I’m wrong) Chase said he was afraid of the dark so Grayson locked him in a basement or closet

He was taught to follow orders by his father(ashley), so instead of saving the child, he went inside the basement and locked up with the child because he thought that’s the way he can save the child by following orders and accepting the punishment set by the parents. Although wrong, we can’t really blame him, he was raised that way, my poor baby

late response but basically Greyson didn't really think letting the kid out was the right thing to do since he grew up being taught by his father Ashley to obey and not question things, so he saw the kid being locked up as a punishment that was supposed to be followed and completed. Greysons childhood was so messed up to the point were he couldn’t tell right from wrong so staying with the kid felt more normal to him than helping him escape. He also thought that helping the kid escape would bring the kid more punishment in the future.
