No, chase is not dumb! He definitely has trust issues/trauma after what grayson did to him. As a child, he felt isolated because his parents paid more attention to the other child, devil child (grayson) because he causes havoc, i.e. almost killed their omega dad. So.. him being kind of naive is a result of that.
