So he comes from a single family household and his mom works herself to the bone. They aren't well off and Jinwoo wanting to study lighting was a luxury that he couldn't afford. She probably wanted him to do something easy, get a good paying job and not suffer like she did. I get Jinwoo, I really do. He just wants to follow his dream but he doesn't have that privilege coming from the background he does. No wonder his mom is so distant. She feels like he is wasting his time and money by going into arts. Every Asian parent ever.
