Actually someone already commented about it. Sombrero is a galaxy or constellation in space. It'd astronomy connected word.

Ahh yeah. i like the galaxy space aspect because they are aliens'. it fits.
Maybe this is me expecting too much, but i feel like the "hat" name might have a deep reason behind it or something. Because sometimes writers just do these kinds of things...
