Hi! probs don’t want a history lesson but if you want to read more of this story a bit of US history clarification might be helpful. So from my understanding Gerald fought for the Union, which was ‘against slavery.’ I put that in quotations bc it REALLY is not that simple as some Union families did own slaves. So can be Union and slave owner but ig Jaxx is trying to portray Gerald as not one of the bad guys ie white racist. The freeing part of the slaves I also don’t know all well but I believe in theory cash would work to kinda ‘let them go’ in a sense, but institutional barriers would limit actually freedom. Def not sure how this is going to go and so far not feeling this is the journey a smutty bl should take at all unless dealt with extreme care maybe. anyway that was long hope i gave a bit of clarity xx

I don't even know what to say i just know im going to get HATED on if i try asking this. Ill put this as spoilers but why the heck did Jax put such a weird trope the whole "im your humble slave" im sorry but what even happened during Jax's month of working on stories or whatever? I don't know much about American history but I know like half imo like many others I feel this was kinda weird. Why did we have to have this theme and not idk keep the cowboys but add yearning or something? I'm genuinely confused, also the war part sounded strange like what side was he fighting?? I'm kinda sad because I read Under the Greenlight and half of Walk on Water, so like nothing could prepare me for this. AGAIN let me clarify im not trying to be a hater but i think Jax needs to fix this story because how can anyone read this after what seems to me like there needs to be more research about cultures and etc. Do correct me if im wrong im just trying to wrap my head around this.
