yeah, they are so funny for this. and I would understand the concerns. if we had more than one chapter and the story was already using tropes that are harmful. meanwhile the dude freed the slaves and gave them money so they can come back to their families. did that ever happen irl? that I don't know. but why wouldn't it happen in a fictional work? these are not historical figures
For real, there's a reason why this is fiction. At least learn how to separate reality from fiction. We only have chapter one to work with and they're already throwing complaints left and right. People are acting as if the story has already finished and confirmed every assumption they've made. If future chapters end up handling certain topics poorly, then sure, criticize it. Whatever you feel like. But judging an entire work based on one chapter and a bunch of "what ifs" feels incredibly immature and idiotic. NOT every fictional character has to behave exactly as people did in real life, and NOT every fictional world has to follow history. That's the whole point of FICTION because it gives authors the decision to come up with possibilities that reality never did and do whatever the hell they want cause it's their story.
