I guess I'm stupid then because it seemed like there was still a misunderstanding on how he perceived the situation and what REALLY happened. Like, ML just let him think whatever so he could fall deep and not leave. Also, even if ML waited for Mc, he still manipulated situations for Mc to fall deep in his mess, taking advantage of his giving nature and empathy. Still toxic and dangerous (due to his line of work), would not recommend as a lover.
