This could have been easily written without ever touching on sensitive topics (poorly) but I guess the author was that desperate for people to know that we got a good non-racist white man here!!!! Should’ve just written some isolated western smut instead of trying to ground it in “reality” and putting it on a timeline.
I dont think reading works with explicit premise turns u into a right winged radical racist unless acted upon it. Secondarily this is a fictional story which is historically accurate i mean you truly cannot deny that. And if you don't like it then don't read or accuse anyone else of so called "rasicm" just because they read it for the sake of curiosity or interestand im pretty sure in the big 2026 no would harbour hate crime against ppl of colour if yk what i mean. Even if they did no one would explicitly put on display unless u are a MAGA supporter
That is literally the bare minimum and doesn’t mean that this isn’t a racist depiction. The author took more care in trying to show how nice her white man MC is instead of focusing on how he just uprooted the lives of former slaves and sent them packing into the unknown to go find their possibly dead or still enslaved family members. Reminder that the end of the war did not just stop slavery and many slaves didn’t even know they were free for years. This releasing days after Juneteenth and having to be explained is so sad.
u guys always use this excuse but where do we draw the line when this isnt a story ITS REALITY indigenous people being slaves in this story was a reality… black people slavery the confederate propaganda is a REALITY idk whats wrong with u mentally but u need to get checked. ur saying in the big 2026 people dont kill or hate crime people of color in america oh yes they we live in trump everything where indigenous r still being genocided!!! black people r hatecrimed lynched and killed and drowned mysteriously!! people still put up confederate flags outside of the homes to signal they hate black people. girl goodbye ur a fucking racist and a loser. dicksucking a fuck ass lame ass bl for what? nothing

The premise of the story is explicitly in the Wild West of the 19th century. So it's not unusual to see slavery or the civil war being hinted. It really isn't as bad as ppl be making it
