Jaxx is using real historical facts with little to no depth as a setting for gay porn, which is insensitive to the history of enslaved people in the US and it's just another example of ignorance and white supremacy.
Just the fact is an Asian author writing about the US civil war is odd enough considering how history is taught in Asia. I'm trying to say that if it was the other way around, an American writing about, for example, "women of comfort" in Korea as "part of the plot" for some romance, anyone would get how bad the inaccurate portrayal of real human history can be so problematic and insensitive. As someone else said, the author could've wrote something about just cowboys but ig a horrible time period in the US was better.

Well the story also just has one chapter so far and depending on how the historical setting is portrayed in the future it could get incredibly worse or better

Also more incorrect is how the MC pay the slave to live somewhere else. In real life they have nowhere to stay or safe because the war is still fresh they're mostly likely recapture or worst. So yeah yikes. Also mix Native American have settlements to stay granted they get harassment or death threat so ML has the most questionable motive above all
