I think the advantage tia has, is her ability to go back in the past. Not only that, I believe she is a smart girl and as you said calculative. She’s more like a mary sue but I notice that she also has her own hardships as well. She is also a business woman.
Her grandpa at the beginning, didn’t dote on her and even declared her as an illegitimate child of their household. Ngl, He is the reason why Tia received harsh treatments. Because he didn’t declare Tia as a legitimate Lombardi. Tia has to work her ass off to claim the rights of being a lombardi. She just countered her enemies because she knew the future and she prepared so well for that.
I would be frustrated if she acted like other MCs who also returned from the past but still dumb.

I agree the grandpa is treated like this big man that built a legacy, meanwhile his children are all messed up. He let Tias dad be bullied and married the rest off to untrustworthy people. She went to the palace, way back when, and was planning to take advantage of an abused child. I wish there was more gray nuance between these black and white characters. Everything Tia does is portrayed as this kind act when in reality most of her thoughts are calculative and she's all about making profit and collecting power. Everyone on her side is a saint, meanwhile everything outside of her circle is the ogre emoji in a nutshell. People been giving it too much credit just bc the art is pretty.
