Also, I think It's clear that Jiwon is carrying some heavy baggage. if you read the paper (before he says "I get scratches whenever I hang around you") it says he was involved in a sexual harassment case between professor and student, but there were no charges. It cuts off before it actually shows who the suspect was (whether it was Jiwon or the professor), and it's unfortunately natural to assume it was probably the professor.
From what we know so far, it's okay to assume that Jiwon's father is a teacher. I'm not sure how to properly articulate It, but in my eyes his obsession over some sort of "perfection" seems to be him trying to make up for something. It makes me wonder if that case made his father either neglect or abuse him, or it made his father look bad and Jiwon feels somewhat responsible for that.
I mentioned this in one of my old replies and now I think it makes more sense (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
'he states that he's not worried about demerits or anything, but how he will be perceived in the future "Only looking at college admissions and worrying about a permanent record is not exactly looking at the whole picture, sir. Just because it's not an official record doesn't mean the stigma disappears, it'll be carried with me even when I'm an adult.„'
When his teacher is scolding him for talking back, he says "How do you think it looks for the professor, when they find out his kid has such a terrible attitude?", and Jiwon freezes up and apologizes. In the same chapter he says "it's not about the demerits but getting involved with something that has absolutely nothing to do with me," which I'm starting to think applies to the sexual harassment case. I want to write so much more but I'm honestly wracking my brain thinking about this, I've never theorized this much about a manhwa before
Yeah I definitely agree with all this. Jinwon’s behavior up until this point gives the energy of someone who’s been pressured to live up to a crazy high standard + is particularly sensitive around ideas of “fairness”, taking excessive responsibility over things that don’t really have to do with him. He also seems to be religious, which could mean another standard to live up to, and religious guilt as well. Since there were no charges filed, it could be that his parents didn’t want to bring light to the case, for fear of stigma and reputational harm… which means that Jinwon would have to be hyper independent and have his guards all the way up bc he’s the only one who can “protect” himself. This manhwa is so good tho like I can’t wait to read more

The translation is really wack, but I think it's clear that Sarang definitely treasured the acquaintance that her and Jiwon had (in her own little way.)
She checks out a book so she can calculate their compatibility, and she's so straightforward that there's no doubting that she actually likes Jiwon, whether it's 100% romantic or not. When Subin tells her to hug the person she likes, she hugs Jiwon, not just because he told her to choose him whenever she was doing a dare, but because she wanted to.
And now, with Jiwon telling her to stop interacting with him, it's like she's trying to find workarounds to that. Again, the translation is really weird but I think she says "If you don't have to take the sexual ethics class, then you won't get any scratches, right? Then can I pretend to know you? Let's have the kids cancel it."
I'm super curious about how this gets worked out, with Jiwon telling her not to talk to him anymore. I don't fully understand her words at the end of the chapter, but I think she's probably going to do something (DEFINITELY not positive) that forces her and Jiwon to interact in some sort of way, like that's how desperate she is
