This is long as shit, I’m sorry I’m just upset. You ain’t gotta read it fr. I didn’t read it so obviously I’m missing context. I’m not going to read it either. Whether this is set after the 13th amendment or not, it’s still a romanization of slavery/suffering. You cannot make a historical BL without acknowledging the actual time period, especially after the 13th amendment was signed.
The cowboy is likely a product of rape. I’m not saying that’s his fault, I’m stating that’s the case. This needs to be acknowledged. Meanwhile, if this is set in western society his people are actively being killed by the union, the same union the mc fought with. This is something that needs to be acknowledged.
The mc didn’t free anybody either, he sent them to the wolves. These people are not just going to live normal lives now. They’re in poverty, prison, and being legally exploited. He didn’t do anything ‘good’ in the first place it doesn’t matter how much money he gave them. His family didn’t care about the slaves, they just wanted to save their name. It’s ironic to say he cared about said slaves when he’s the one that hade them enslaved to begin with.
The west was not a wasteland, it was well inhabited by native people because they were forced there. To add to this, native Americans weren’t even considered citizens the same way African Americans were.
I don’t care if the line was said to provoke the mc, it’s a terrible introduction to his character and already puts him in that position. More research should’ve been put into this manhwa before it was released and I will stand by this.
I definitely recommend you check out my comment I made about the historical accuracy of this manhwa as a lot of what you said I mention but to clear up a misconception from chapter 1 gerald never seemed to care about freeing the slaves the only reason he joined the union was to help his father expand his political and economic influence plus the preview trailers and chapter 1 make it clear gerald plans on commiting suicide so he wanted to get rid of everything in his family name also you definitely have every right to not like this manhwa even if this manhwa was well researched and well written by jaxx it's still an extremely sensitive topic
