At first I thought it was going to a normal BL but it’s actually surprisingly deep. Like idk if most people realize but the “system” that the MC keeps talking about is just a metaphor for the typical Genre of the “Obsessive Top” that is created time and time again because BL readers will consume it and thus more BL authors create the same trope of “Obsessive Top” and “innocent bottom” since it will sell.
The whole story is the MC suffering to do actions that he wishes not to do to align with this trope and thus satisfy the readers who do read the “Obsessive Top” trope. So in essence, the readers essentially cause the suffering of characters in these stories because they are forced to so they can satisfy the reader. I think it’s an interesting take and I think it says more about the people who read toxic BL than any creator who makes it.
