Despite its flaws I really love this story. First off the comedy is good, and while it lacks in some departments I mean look at the first four chapters? It’s a quick and dramatic story so I’m not faulting it too hard. There’s just somethin that I wish they would’ve touched on more - and that’s peony’s loneliness. The way they dealt with it just needed a bit more boning to it. While we get to see some of the emperors thoughts later, he was still incredibly cruel to peony by keeping him lonely and locked away. And while it was for his safety, that didn’t take away from the loneliness and abandonment peony felt from both his husband and his kids. There should’ve been more repenting from the emeror and while there was some “fixing his mistakes” parts, I wish it just felt a little stronger. It’s not bad but idk.
