This is not something you can do without proper research. The lack of care for the people you are writing about and representing through slaver genuinely goes to show how much people just don’t care about black people. There has been so much insensitive shit that authors have been doing revolving around us and it only furthers the hatred we already get, and when we speak up about it the racism just gets worse. Icl if the author “didnt mean any harm”, the effect of these things very much impact black people irl, giving others an excuse to be horrible. The same thing goes with the “nega” thing for tadc, the Jabber “cosplay” kei urana reposted, and the simple act of just never including black people into media and having it more so white dominated in every aspect. Things like this might not matter to you but it very much impacts how people treat us in these fandom spaces and irl. I can’t rlly explain it that well but I hope you understand.
no thats what im saying,im not a civil war expert but i was born in north america so i know an okay amount and the way they just presented slavery as a plot device in this manhwa irked me so much. like the amount of atrocities that stemmed from slavery and for it just to be used to create a romantic dynamic between the "white abolitinist" and a native american that looks like what koreans think native american look like. like for a manhwa about slavery atleast make one the characters black like TT istg korean manhwa authors do anything but include black people in their work and maybe dont have the white character be a fricking descendant of slave owners like wth????

i hope they pick it up again and of course go in a different direction for the plot. i truly believe the author didnt mean to write this from a place of racism and just wanted to experiment with the american civil war but failed to do their proper research. an americana story about indigenous americans and abolitionists would go hard, they just need to better the plot and more research. cause why does the indigenous character look like that TTTTT looking like someones warrior cats oc broo
