I'm not saying every faceless character is a problem, im saying that in a story about slavery, the enslaved black characters are introduced as a group to be "freed" by the white protagonist (white saviour complex) and then largely remain in the background, while the narrative focuses on him. A random faceless maid isnt comparable because she isnt part of a historically oppressed group whose experiences are central to the subject matter
