disappointed but not surprised

the way this story has been brushing off rape like its just another Tuesday morning is so off-putting.. I don't see the appeal in this type of "story building". I'm not understanding why a perfectly competent and capable character had to be reduced to a mediocrity who can't seem to ever catch the upperhand and keeps getting played with. This, Codename Anastasia, Kill My Love, Beasts of Desire, and probably more than I'm forgetting just to name a few... it's character assassination!! introducing a character with certain traits and skills only to then immediately strip them off of it all.
Not to mention that I fail to see what legitimate motive Rian has to put with continuesly being violated and humiliated.. but then again, the writing makes it seem as tho he doesn't even care. and the readers are being gaslit into believing its no big deal
