"All wyverns are dragons, but not all dragons are wyvern". Just like the dragons of Game of Thrones, are technically all Wyverns. Because they only have 2 wings and 2 legs.
I was thinking moreso of the etymological differences and the mythological lore that they're relatives but distinctly different. Dragons have 4 legs whereas wyverns only have 2.
In there land, they can't be classified (=・ω・=). Since, they are a mix of animals with powers as myths. Like there's a legend of the Pegasus clan. But surely not, all Pegasus living there? At least FL isn't one. And one of her husband candidate, looks more like a mermaid to me than part fish/shark(?) (￣∇￣")
BTW, I love Dragon lore. Wyverns are just one type of Dragon. You also have: Wyrm, Lindwurm, Amphiptere, Long, Yong, Ryu, Quetzalcoatl, Fae Dragons, Hydra, Sea Serpent....Almost all are either reptile or serpent shaped, or even both. And not all have wings or even legs. And not all are traditional dragons, yet categorized as one.
