    I think yeah, it would be interesting I do think the author can still reuse the characters and change the setting for a little later in the timeline for a western cowboy story

    Nope. The white saviour troupe is inherently racist. The story was already gearing to pose white guy as an oppressed figure by the indeginous guy which is dangerous misrepresentation. And we know how bl fans don't have the brain to not self insert and would have taken away very racist tropes towards indeginous folk. The story should have never been if it's not an accurate representation of the reality of that time.

    Of course, but like they could have made this an interracial couple living in the 1800s wild west from the start if they just had somebody to stop them before locking this in.
