This is not my first time reading this manga. I've reread it so many times but suddenly today, i feel like leaving a comment. I really love reading this manga and i actually don't know the exact word to describe it so here's what i can say.
I like the kouhai (junior) character. He is cute, physically and personality-ly(?). The art is somehow rough but it won't prevent my eyes from seeing the cuteness in him. He has a troubled-looking face, his pouty face is cute af and i just want to squish him so much. He is kinda shy too but not afraid to voice out and get mad at the senpai when something is wrong.
And yes, the senpai is looking like a red flag but when you go deeper you will see that it's because he's just a fool when it's bout relationship. He is a good looking guy and a simple-minded one. Mostly that type of guy will get confessed to a lot and just accept it without thinking much. I understand that some people will dislike that type because why would you go into a relationship if you're not serious about it? My defense is he is 'simple minded guy'. Probably, in his way of thinking: look okay in his eyes, agree to date, get sex, hangout together, be nice = in a good relationship.
So let's go deeper (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT)
1.The "I'm not the homo, this guy is" - yes yes yes that sound real insensitive. But, you need to understand that guy never date a guy before + he is still the one shoving. For him, it means 'I'm not homo, I don't get hard to every man' in his simple-minded lil brain. He just see their relationship like any normal relationship and the only difference is that, this time the partner is a guy.
2. Shoving it without any foreplay - just like he said, this is his first time with a guy and he thought kouhai is used to it. So being the simple-minded guy he is, he didn't care to study or check on how to do it properly cuz sex is just sex, his dick get hard and it's all good.
3. First kouhai outburst aka the "WOULD YOU SHOVE IT IN MY ASS IN FRONT OF THEM?!": the senpai is calm, didn't get mad or feel ashamed after being harshly criticised about his sex skill, by someone younger and in front of his friends. He even found it amazing and that proves how simple-minded he is. But still, he make sure they properly talk about it and clear the misunderstanding. We can see from here that he need someone to push the button aka tell him when something is wrong or not because his simple-minded brain can't braining without a push.
4. The make up sex: it's beautiful, just beautiful. And here we know why senpai agree to date the kouhai; cuz of the nape. But, he did said "that's not the only reason" but kouhai already fall asleep at that time.
5. The senpai backstory & pov: here, senpai explain how he usually is in a relationship. And he even said he didn't know why he's popular. Sound cocky right? But nahh that's guy just didn't have the braincells to think more about it and he just 'yeah whatever' it. Here also he explains more about why he date kouhai. It stills relate to the nape tho but he also add the way how kouhai face looks like when he look at him, cutely blushing, i believe it's the face of someone who truely love him. Because kouhai's feeling towards him not just the 'i like this guy' kind of feeling but more like 'i've been loving this guy since forever and i really really love him so so much'. That's why senpai think their relationship can work cuz even thought he can't really word it out properly, he unconsciously can feel kouhai's passionate yet gentle love towards him.
6. The madly in love senpai: then we can see how senpai talk about kouhai and said he's a fairy and even his friend is shocked with that statement. He want to treat kouhai better but he dunno why. Cuz his simple-minded brain never think more before! This moment is actually cute because of how love-struck that senpai is and how hard he is trying to think to make sure kouhai do not hate him.
7. And BAM! another conflict aka the suddenly fairy kouhai turn into a beast and try to top him? No way!: bam splash squirt and things happened. his simple-minded brain overclocked and said something stupid like 'let's break up'. At this moment, i really think he's real stupid. 8. The friends: here the friends playing an important roles to push the button to his brain. The friend said what needed to be said and open his mind where he had been thinking about it but he just dunno what to do.
9. Senpai try to win kouhai back at the library, in front of people: ok here senpai explain his insecurities and actually do a research on the squirting part, yay an improvement. For me, the insecurities are understandable cuz he never experience that and for someone who used to just being the shover suddenly being push down and serviced more than the dick, it can cause various kind of mix feelings (or maybe he never had experience with feisty girlfriend). The part where he poured out his feelings and end with "please keep on scolding me" is actually cute and funny. It might not be the most beautiful 'get back together' moment but that's the perfect scene for them.
I gotta say the mangaka did well. I really wish there's more to their story to see their relationship growth but it is what it is and i still love it. Btw, my fav character is the kouhai cuz I'm a sucker for cutie.
