"how" he ended up in the ghost story universe is not known as of this part of the story, feel free to speculate. All we know is that he spun a wheel at a pop-up event, won a special prize that made him a "character" in the wiki as an employee of one of the big three groups in the fandom, daydream inc. And then the world went black and next thing he knew, he was going through the the orientation process of new daydream employees, which includes being put through a relatively easy ghost story to weed out useless employees. That ghost story happened to be a train that takes you to "your final destination", entry method is falling asleep and having commuted by train at some point in your life, it's assumed daydream can trigger the entry at will. The escape method is getting off at a stop with something you lack. He wasn't going anywhere really, he was just trying to escape the ghost story alive, he didn't willingly board the train, he actually tried to leave before it started but was caught in it regardless. In this world where ghost stories are reality, a person can very easily get caught in one and die. Kim Soleum is a scaredy cat and wants to go back to his original world, he figures the fastest way to do that is by staying in the field exploration team and working to win enough points to get a "wish ticket" which is an employee benefit of daydream inc and can grant any wish at all (if it changes reality too much, it will grant the wish only for that employee and it will seem as if the employee disappeared to everyone else. It assumes the employee is in a parallel world in which their wish is true). Field exploration employees earn points faster than any department, but also have the highest death rate, high risk high reward. A wish ticket seems to be the only way to send him back. So far, we've seen him enter ghost stories with impressive results.
