I honestly don’t get why people are like this

It’s just as bad when the black guy called all the Asians slurs. Why give shit to the white guy saying the n word? And not get mad at the black guy saying that slur to the other asians?

I think most people are upset at the depiction of black people in here and not just solely upset at the use of the n word. As U prob know, most black children have faced racism in school in Korea. So it is disingenuous to portray the only time black children are shown as such, especially since the manhwa prides itself of being based of real life. The reason no one is upset at “the black guy saying a slur” is because it's only there to be used as a justification for the n word to used and the punishment given by the white saviour ( aka the white guy ). Since all the characters are fictional, the only real person saying the slurs are the author who is NOT black. Paired with the story setting he quite literally made up ( how a bunch of black ppl have “infiltrated” Korean communities ) which parallels a lot of xenophobic sentiments. People are a lot more upset at the white using a slur.

I understand that you're looking at it from the author's perspective rather than the characters. I still think it's fair to question why one instance of racist language gets more attention than another. If the story includes a Black character using racial slurs toward Asian characters, I don't think that should be ignored either. Both portrayals can be criticized, even if people feel the use of the N word by a non Black author carries additional issues because of its history and context.

Hi I do understand U re trying to say that why one character's bad actions get hate but another character's bad actions don't. And it does seem like U re asking this out of somewhat good faith hence why I replied to u. But now it seemed like U were making a statement rather than an actual question so my bad. So this would be my final reply and I do hope U realised why the two slurs used do not carry the same weight. Firstly, remember these are FICTIONAL characters meaning these are figments of IMAGINATION by the author who is a REAL person. So these “characters’ perspectives” are only as real as the very real AUTHOR's perspective. I do agree the use of the c slur in that episode has gone unnoticed but that's bc of INTENTION. The use of the c slur is only there to serve one purpose; excuse the use of the n word. Remember when we're criticising a character's action, knowing the INTENTION behind it is very important too. So yes most audience members aren't as appalled by the c word compared to the n word n it's due to the context of the whole episode. Clearly without any context, the use of the c word is just as bad as the n word. But U see now WITH CONTEXT, it's rlly not the same. Hopefully this helps clear up why one “racist language got more attention” and that U also read this fully cuz it's quite long.

I get what you're saying about the author's intent, and I understand why people are more critical of that scene because of the context. I just think both instances of racist language should be criticized instead of one being overlooked.

I see U think context isn't important here but context is RLLY IMPORTANT. Example, my mom died of cancer ≠ my mom died cuz I killed her with intent. As we can see now “my mom died“ with different context, we feel differently for the subject. Hopefully this helps explain why context is important. Now I'm gg to simplify the CONTEXT here. Characters = NOT REAL. Only real person = East Asian Author. East Asian author saying the C word ≠ East Asian author saying the N word. The context of WHO is saying WHAT slur is important. So no we don't criticise the use of the c word here. Like how we don't criticise a black person saying the n word. “But it's a black character saying the C slur”, remember this black character isn't REAL. So the only person we should be criticising is the author. Just so U know, no one is rlly criticising the white guy saying a slur cuz most of us re criticising the INTENT of having a white guy saying the N word. If U still don't get it, I don't know what else say honestly T^T
