That's a good question but imagine a bunny hybrid having a long white or soft pink bunny ear or a wolf or fox or whatever animals and human ears too, reader will always wonder from which ears does they even hear from+ it will only make the art more like um... I don't have the word for that.
I kinda see why people think its unrealistic since most if not all animal traits are for survival and anything not nessceary gets lost after generations. I dont think ive ever seen a manhwa atleast ever have the hearing go towards superhuman levels of sensitivity. Its always like an animals level of hearing which makes the human ears ontop of the animal ones unneeded.
It can also look strange since there is no animal with four ears.
Combination of those two points makes it seem like the ears thing is just slapped on additon to the character instead of a thought out thing.
But those are just my theories lol. Ive never really had a problem with it either. I also just assumed the 4 ears gives them better hearing and was satisfied with that. Even if it could be unrealistic I dont rlly care since these stories usually need a little suspension of belief anyway
I’ve seen this complaint so much in hybrid bl mangas, but why do people hate when hybrid humans have four ears (2 human, 2 animal)?
I always thought of it as their animal ears give them more sensitive hearing and my brain never flags it as a flaw or smth. But I’ve seen so many people saying that it’s unrealistic or that it wouldn’t work out like that and that it bothers them. Some say that’s it’s because hearing from two separate pairs of ears wouldn’t make sense bc of overlap but we hear from two ears and we don’t think of overlap that often.
ig I’m just asking bc I’ve seen this complaint for YEARS and never really got what others are saying. Like am i missing something? lol
This is obviously not a serious issue, it’s just something that’s been plaguing me for years so I would like to hear other ppl’s thoughts on this ear manga issue
