I read this Manhua years ago before I read Fake Slackers. Upon stumbling upon it again, I suddenly realized how much Fake Slackers references are here. Like when Zhan Zhao was asking in a forum, there's a guy there named X talking about having a dream about his boyfriend becoming an excavator operator. And it doesn't just stop at the reference, He Zhao (Hao Chao) and Xie Yu (Xie Yuu) APPEARS in the Manhua itself around Chapters 60 - 61 a.k.a. the guys who got "struck by lightning in Liyang" and became smart. That's totally them, He Zhao thinking of three solutions for one problem, Xie Yu sleeping out the competition but still somehow placing second, and He Zhao delivering an embarrassing speech.
Most important of it all was that in a panel in Chapter 60, you can see He Zhao's red bean bracelet showing
I missed them so much I feel so emotional seeing them here. Everytime Xu Sheng and Zhan Shao interact with them it fills my heart to the brim. Its like watching the predecessors (HZ and XY) interact with their successors (ZS and XS).
If anyone is curious about the other two geniuses from "Liyang High", I highly recommend reading "Fake Slackers". And no, it is not true they got striked by lightning then became "smart", they are naturally smart. They just both hid that fact and pretended to be slackers, battling for the last place in school rankings. When they stopped hiding it, the sudden emergence of their intellects led people to think "They got striked by lightning and became smart". I feel like reading the chapters 60 - 61 would be even more enjoyable after reading it.
