So, I'm confused. It was supposed to hit different when Amon said the forbidden rapist line "if this was tormenting you, then why are you enjoying this?" because he knows no empathy. He hardly ever feels emotion, and his logic is far displaced from humans. But he clearly said that he had to make sure this was torturous, thus, the evil fruit salad of shame. So rather than a god with no empathy, this is raw sadism. So does he understand how to read a room, or not? He's a dumbass, but please make it clear what kind of dumbass.
The only silver lining is the author well executing a few psychologically horrific moments of the main character's terror to keep reminding us that they know this situation is horrific and the personal guards slowly picking up on the horrific shenanigans, or them triggering intriguing plot points.
