I enjoyed this more than I expected. I really enjoyed the main lead characters (and like basically no one else… save for maybe his manager and his bro?). Yeono is a really striking MC and I like that he’s a realistic balance of desperate and resolute. It helps a lot that Jaehyuk was treating him pretty well early on, especially in those moments where Yeono is doubting himself. As a reader we can empathize and cope with him because of how confusing Jaehyuk acts. The redemption arc for Jaehyuk is surprisingly well done. I will say that of all the similar stories, he isn’t as evil or as toxic as most MLs so the redemption feels earned. It was so surprising to see him reeling when he learned about what happened at the club! Very rarely do you get to see an ML regret their actions in real time like that. All things considered though, I think the circumstances made it hard for either of them to make good choices, but I will always resent any too that chooses sexual violence as punishment. It’s so hard to judge the sex scene there because of how Yeono reacts in every single sex scene, even the ones he enthusiastically initiated. But still, Jaehyuk knew he was drunk (and maybe suspected he was high idk). Plus they’d just had a huge falling out so the sex was still in bad taste. I remember scrolling past it as fast as I could while still checking to see if they’d talk during it. My biggest qualm with this story is how drawn out some of the sexual assault scenes were. Especially in regards to the loan shark. I think Eeej may have favored him a bit too much. He lingers in scenes far longer than I would prefer. I understand that rape is common but I wish more authors would frame it in a way where it’s clear that it’s not meant to be seen as fun and sexy. When it’s framed similarly to consensual sex between the main couple, I find it to be in poor taste. But I guess that comes back to the fact that almost every sex scene in Limited Run feels aggressive and almost forced (almost! Some were very good). The foreplay between them was otherwise quite good though. I still really enjoyed Limited Run and I applaud the author for designing a great looking couple with compelling personalities and chemistry.
