they did not. there's a scene after chase gave his phone number that he demanded josh to give him a call, and that's how he saved josh's phone number.

aw they cut out the part from the novel where chase was complaining that he didn't know josh's phone number and josh replied he doesn't know chase's as well, so chase gave his phone number and asked josh to dial it and give him a call although they were literally together at that moment. i just thought that scene was cute with chase being sulky and silly.
