I mean he really seems like he doesn't want geumryang hurt cause he been there, but he knows he can't wash away his love, tho I do want to see Na-in reuniting with the fox as past lovers

He was talking about next life and meeting in a PAST TENSE as if he went through it before
Maybe that's why he isn't ready to date / don't want to , cause he went through it before ( his lover passing away or smthg) .
