Oscar-bait in manga format except way less pretentious

I love the art, the story though... it's way too depressing. I guess I'm just not into tragedies, especially since Ian's story sounds like a story that could very well be happening to someone in real life as I'm writing this. Maybe not everything of course, but the abuse, the exploitation, the forced prostitution... they're all things that can and do happen to people so it's just hard to read it happening to this poor guy.
