From the very beginning, I never liked Mokyeon’s character, with all the extortion and sexual abuse he put Nanjo through (because yes, even though Nanjo accepted the deal Mokyeon proposed, it’s still fucking abuse, and you can tell), but I wanted to see how Nanjo’s character would end up in all of this, since he was being used by both sides of this story. And then now Mokyeon “falls in love” with Nanjo and wants to start changing things. I haven’t read the new chapter yet, and I probably won’t, since I want to let a few chapters pile up before continuing, but from what I’ve read in the comments, it has to do with Mokyeon’s past.

It’s nothing new to reveal a character’s past and explain that "Character X" behaves the way they do because of it. Generally, I’m not against this being shown because I’m interested in knowing it, since it’s important for a character’s development and well it's backstory, unless the story is using it to justify any action a character took. I don't know if this will happen here, we'll see.

The same thing happens in real life, life experiences shape us in one way or another. The difference lies in how people ultimately deal with them and what they end up learning, because, after all, we’re not all the same. The one thing that’s always true for each of us is that our past will NEVER justify our actions, and actions must have consequences. And obviously, because of this, I don’t see Mokyeon as a poor victim in my eyes in this whole situation with Nanjo. Will I feel bad for that poor kid who had to go through a horrible and difficult childhood? Absolutely. But Mokyeon in the present is an ADULT, and honestly, I hope he will suffer more for what he did, and I’d even love to see him not end up with Nanjo in the end—though this will surely have a happy ending, just like every toxic manhwa, it will surprise me if not lol.

The only thing I hope for from this new season is to see more of Nanjo and his perspective, thoughts and feelings, since in the first season we only see Mokyeon’s point of view. I want more depth on Nanjo, about whom we basically still know nothing beyond what Mokyeon believes, knows, or sees in him.
