HARD TAKEEE dont drag me chat I know how yall areI need to talk about a massive double standard I'm seeing in the fandom, and it’s genuinely sad. I don’t even read much yaoi and I haven't read either of these fully, but I need to point this out: How can people condone and defend the extreme abuse and assault in Reverse Thinking, but completely lose their minds over one chapter of Song of the Wasteland?
DONT GET ME WRONF THEYRE Both VERY contain awful, inexcusable themes. But it makes no sense to draw a hard moral line at fictional racism while actively tolerating or romanticizing rape and abuse. Real-world racism is a systemic issue people experience daily, whereas sexual violence is universally recognized as a horrific crime. It is wild to me that people can selectively turn their moral compass on and off depending on which taboo they choose to overlook

I 100% get it. People just want to draw the line at whatever keeps the fire burning. It's nasty and awful, but you'll find rape and assault and even torture in a LOT LOTTTT of stories and it's been so normalized it doesn't even come with warnings 70% of the time anymore. People literally expect to find even a little bit when opening most stories.
Blatant racism is much rarer, therefore a hot topic.
I also think for some people it's not exactly the topic alone that made them upset, it's the expectations people had for that creator and the way it was played off

idk what Reverse is and for me at least i try to avoid any rape content or if by any chances i came across it during some good story i just skip it. and just like the person above me said, as sick as it is, rape and SA are pretty much one of the main topics in majority of BL, it's very normalized where people expect it to be there. now about the song of wasteland, even tho both topics triggers trauma and people does get upset about it, but it's more complicated (i'm not black or native or americain but i did a bit of research) what triggered them is the usage of the word "slave" also the racism which is not something we come across in BL, the "white man savior"/the fact that jaxx didn't dive deep into the civil war and picked a time were black and native ppl were slaves and got killed and went throught extreamly unhumane stuff (my words might anger some ppl but english is not my 1st language so i apologize if i use the wrong words) i'm also totally against the threat jaxx recieved and i pray for her safety, but, in a way i see the problem because if i was black or native and i read how a black/native man refers to himself as " im your slave, master" i'll also be upset because that's real history (i hopr i'm making some sence)
