I don’t really follow the story, but I thought this post was interesting and a bit disappointing so I’m sharing it here for whoever is interested.
I was gonna put the link, but my comment might disappear so I’ll just copy what they wrote a leave it here.
This is what they wrote:
“For those who haven't read Our Sunny Days (you're missing out!) ML is named Kwon Haebom (권해범). He has a very normal 3 characters' name where Kwon is the 1 syllable family name, and Hae + Beom are his 2 syllables personal name.
MC is an adult orphan named Sung Ho (성호). It has been explained at the beginning that Sungho was meant to be his personal name, and when he'd get adopted he'd take his new family 's name, (hence becoming Kim Sungho for example) but since he was never adopted, the orphanage took the first syllable Sung and made it his family name / last name, and his personal name became just Ho.
So when he gets adopted by Haebom at the end of 3rd season he becomes, in the Korean original, Kwon Sungho (권성호), because obviously that how he reclaims his identity as someone belonging to a family.
I should have known it was poor quality translation since the joke about Haebom's name (Haebom looks close to the word for seal in Korean) and the low level translation of the baby's name as well.
I'm really mad because it affects greatly the understanding of the story and the emotional implications of the name change.“
